Ses photos sont belles et elles peuvent susciter une grande attention, notamment des Saintmerriens, pour quatre raisons. La chronique de Jean Deuz\u00e8mes<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"quatre-raisons-d-aller-voir-cette-exposition\"><strong>Quatre raisons d\u2019aller voir cette exposition<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-lead has-medium-font-size\">Patrick Faigenbaum, n\u00e9 en 1954, vit et travaille \u00e0 Paris, mais artiste appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 internationalement il revient aussi r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement dans certains lieux du monde o\u00f9 il a de fortes attaches. Form\u00e9 \u00e0 la peinture, il s\u2019est tourn\u00e9 rapidement vers la photographie de portrait, en d\u00e9veloppant un style pictorialiste, fait d\u2019extr\u00eame rigueur, de lenteur et de silence devant les sujets. La galerie se trouve <strong>rue du Clo\u00eetre-Saint-Merry<\/strong> et le Centre pastoral avait nou\u00e9 des relations d\u2019estime avec elle, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 accueillir un artiste performeur, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.voir-et-dire.net\/?Joris-Van-de-Moortel-Performance-a-Saint-Merry\">Joris Van de Moortel<\/a>. Cette galerie d\u00e9ploie une ind\u00e9pendance&nbsp; d\u2019esprit bien connue et travaille avec des artistes d\u2019une tr\u00e8s grande sensibilit\u00e9. Revenir dans cette galerie, c\u2019est faire une plong\u00e9e dans un quartier et un certain pass\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-lead has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Deuxi\u00e8me raison&nbsp;<\/strong>: Patrick Faigenbaum travaille par s\u00e9ries, qui ne sont pas sans <strong>\u00e9voquer les th\u00e9matiques de quelques-uns des groupes de StMerry Hors les Murs<\/strong>. L\u2019art bien s\u00fbr, Voir et Dire a r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement fait des articles sur ce qui se passait dans cette galerie. Mais aussi \u00ab&nbsp;Que sont nos amis devenus&nbsp;? \u00bb, comme l\u2019atteste la sollicitude des photos sur la fin de vie d\u2019une femme&nbsp;: la m\u00e8re de l\u2019artiste. Le groupe \u00ab&nbsp;Solidarit\u00e9s&nbsp;\u00bb pourrait faire siennes les photos de migrants, la commission&nbsp;\u00ab&nbsp;Partage&nbsp;\u00bb pourrait se reconna\u00eetre dans la mani\u00e8re dont sont photographi\u00e9s des paysages lointains, des soci\u00e9t\u00e9s lointaines, ouvrant sur d\u2019autres horizons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-lead has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Troisi\u00e8me raison&nbsp;: le pictorialisme<\/strong> de Patrick Faigenbaum est une mani\u00e8re d\u2019exprimer le contemporain de la photo en faisant r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 une tradition pass\u00e9e dans la peinture. C\u2019est ce que les Saintmerriens ne cessent de faire&nbsp;: dire l\u2019aujourd\u2019hui en \u00e9tant ancr\u00e9s dans la tradition&nbsp;; les \u00abtradis\u00bb affirmant la tradition pour y ancrer l\u2019aujourd\u2019hui&nbsp;! Chez lui, la nature morte est bien plus \u00a0\u00bb A still life\u00a0\u00bb, tant la vie est toujours pr\u00e9sente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-lead has-medium-font-size\">Mais <strong>la quatri\u00e8me raison,<\/strong> peut-\u00eatre la plus importante, est une question d\u2019attitude&nbsp;: celle du photographe par rapport \u00e0 ses sujets, qu\u2019il \u00e9coute et respecte&nbsp;; cela se traduit par une esth\u00e9tique. On pourrait l\u2019appeler <strong>la consolation<\/strong> dont parle si bien Christophe Andr\u00e9 dans son livre r\u00e9cent <em>Consolations, celles que l\u2019on re\u00e7oit et celles que l\u2019on donne<\/em> et qu\u2019il distingue de l\u2019empathie et de la compassion. Santu Lussurgiu&nbsp;\u00bb le village de sa femme en Sardaigne, une vieille femme en 2005, ou un jeune adolescent, Rapha\u00ebl en 2013. Dans les deux cas, il s\u2019agit de percevoir le passage d\u2019un \u00e9tat \u00e0 un autre&nbsp;: le grand \u00e2ge, l\u2019adolescence&nbsp;; la fin et le d\u00e9but dans la vie. Ce qui n\u2019a pas boug\u00e9 en revanche, c\u2019est le paysage et sa froideur. C\u2019est pourtant dans ce lieu sans int\u00e9r\u00eat que Patrick Faigenbaum a bascul\u00e9 du Noir et Blanc \u00e0 la couleur alors que son int\u00e9r\u00eat quitte les g\u00e9n\u00e9alogies familiales pour les villes. Comment en faire un portrait ? Parce que l\u2019on ne sait rien de l\u2019\u00e9tat int\u00e9rieur de l\u2019artiste \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque, hormis qu&rsquo;il \u00e9tait en r\u00e9sidence d&rsquo;artiste dans cette ville, on est r\u00e9duit \u00e0 chercher la signification de ce clich\u00e9 marqu\u00e9 par l\u2019\u00e9tranget\u00e9 : on n\u2019y voit que des hommes et des femmes, mais cette fois-ci de dos, des inconnus donc, un portait de groupe tr\u00e8s compos\u00e9 avec des personnes pourtant dispers\u00e9es, dans une tonalit\u00e9 de gravit\u00e9 o\u00f9 la brillance de l\u2019eau, l\u2019espace de d\u00e9ambulation, l\u2019horizon sont les vrais sujets. Le vide moderne ? Beaucoup plus le temps qui tient, celui du \u00ab\u00a0Still life\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-lead has-medium-font-size\">Un grand art qui d\u00e9cline le concept de portrait, subtilement et avec un sens aigu du temps, de la m\u00e9moire, du respect du sujet : \u00e0 la recherche de la justesse par la beaut\u00e9 de l\u2019image.
