C\u2019est sa deuxi\u00e8me \u0153uvre qui entre dans un b\u00e2timent religieux apr\u00e8s les splendides&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.narthex.fr\/oeuvres-et-lieux\/peinture-sculpture-vitrail\/les-etranges-vitraux-de-pascal-convert-a-saint-gildas-des-bois\">vitraux de Saint-Gildas des Bois<\/a>, pr\u00e8s de Nantes. <br>Mais pour la profondeur de son art, il vient d\u2019\u00eatre retenu sur la liste des cinq artistes pr\u00e9s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9s pour r\u00e9aliser le futur mobilier liturgique de Notre-Dame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-lead\">L\u2019artiste est un historien dans l\u2019\u00e2me qui se saisit d\u2019\u00e9v\u00e8nements pr\u00e9cis qui ont marqu\u00e9 un lieu pour produire \u00e0 son tour un objet d\u2019une \u00e9trange et fascinante beaut\u00e9, tr\u00e8s souvent par le verre, mais aussi par la photo&nbsp;: il traduit la m\u00e9moire en mati\u00e8re. <br>Ses \u0153uvres portent les traces, voire les manifestent, de ce qui a \u00e9t\u00e9, en utilisant des techniques d\u2019artisans, mobilisant parfois la haute technologie et les comp\u00e9tences qu\u2019ils ma\u00eetrisent.<br>Le verre est un mat\u00e9riau expressif du temps, par son histoire, ses composants et sa r\u00e9silience, qui se coule dans la pens\u00e9e de l\u2019artiste, jusque dans la dur\u00e9e de la fabrication de l\u2019\u0153uvre.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"une-recette-de-cuisine\"><strong>Une \u00ab&nbsp;recette de cuisine&nbsp;\u00bb<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-lead\">Olivier Juteau, ma\u00eetre verrier qui r\u00e9alise les \u0153uvres en verre de Pascal Convert depuis plusieurs ann\u00e9es, a d\u00e9crit avec une grande pr\u00e9cision technique le rituel permettant l\u2019op\u00e9ration produisant la transmutation du bois en cristal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-lead\">\u00ab&nbsp;<em>Trouvez un vieux Christ en bois. D\u00e9poussi\u00e9rez et brossez la surface du bois. Enlevez les rebouchages douteux effectu\u00e9s lors des restaurations pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes. Purgez tous les appr\u00eats faits au pl\u00e2tre. Retirez toutes les parties m\u00e9talliques en les recherchant en promenant un aimant sur le corps du christ. Montez au pinceau une premi\u00e8re couche de pl\u00e2tre r\u00e9fractaire pour bien prendre tous les d\u00e9tails. Installez l\u2019armature m\u00e9tallique devant contenir la pression du verre liquide. Coffrez l\u2019ensemble et coulez le moule r\u00e9fractaire autour du Christ. Apr\u00e8s 48 heures et apr\u00e8s d\u00e9coffrage enfournez parfaitement \u00e0 l\u2019horizontale. Disposez dans le four et au-dessus du moule, les proc\u00e9d\u00e9s d\u2019alimentation en verre du christ. \u00c9tuvez le moule \u00e0 120\u00b0C jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce qu\u2019il ne d\u00e9gage plus de vapeur d\u2019eau. Cuisez jusqu\u2019\u00e0 550\u00b0C et appr\u00e9ciez visuellement la combustion de l\u2019original en bois. Montez le four progressivement \u00e0 une temp\u00e9rature de 880\u00b0C. D\u00e8s que cette temp\u00e9rature est atteinte, commencez \u00e0 alimenter en verre. Arr\u00eatez l\u2019alimentation quand le verre ressort par les \u00e9vents, attention cela se fait doucement et prend une vingtaine d\u2019heures. <\/em><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-lead\">Ci-contre Cristallisation n\u00b03 dans sa caisse de transport<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-lead\"><em>Laissez refroidir jusqu\u2019\u00e0 580\u00b0C et restez-y au moins 48 heures. Faites refroidir extr\u00eamement progressivement sur une dur\u00e9e d\u2019un mois et demi, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la temp\u00e9rature ambiante. Sortez le moule du four et commencez \u00e0 d\u00e9mouler pr\u00e9cautionneusement en respectant la volont\u00e9 de l\u2019artiste. Consolidez si n\u00e9cessaire avec de la r\u00e9sine les parties du pl\u00e2tre r\u00e9fractaire trop tendres que l\u2019artiste souhaite garder autour. R\u00e9parez les fissures in\u00e9vitables, rebouchez certains manques si besoin. Brossez la surface de la sculpture.&nbsp;<\/em>\u00bb (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.saint-eustache.org\/cristallisation-3-oeuvre-de-pascal-convert\/\">Site de Saint-Eustache<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-lead\">Cette op\u00e9ration de cristallisation tient \u00e0 la fois de la recette et de la \u00ab&nbsp; paisible tuerie&nbsp;\u00bb. \u00ab&nbsp;<em>Au sentiment initial d\u2019horreur face \u00e0 ce geste iconoclaste d\u00e9cisif succ\u00e8de l\u2019impression de se trouver devant le fant\u00f4me d\u2018 \u00ab une mer de cristal m\u00eal\u00e9e de feu \u00bb (Apocalypse de Jean 15, 2). L\u2019op\u00e9ration de cristallisation qui convertit une sculpture en bois en une sculpture en cristal est une op\u00e9ration myst\u00e9rieuse de transsubstantiation.&nbsp;\u00bb <\/em>Camille Maufray \u2013 Fondation Antoine de Galbert qui a donn\u00e9 l\u2019\u0153uvre \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9glise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"l-art-et-la-matiere\"><strong>L\u2019art et la mati\u00e8re<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-lead\">Pascal Convert garde une certaine modestie, voire demeure en retrait : sa pi\u00e8ce inerte a chang\u00e9 de mati\u00e8re, elle garde ses stigmates, le verre n\u2019est pas travers\u00e9 par la lumi\u00e8re et n\u2019irradie pas. L\u2019artiste n\u2019est pas intervenu sur la forme, il a cherch\u00e9 longtemps l\u2019objet avant de l\u2019acheter \u00e0 un marchand. --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 720\/971;\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">La chapelle Saint-Louis, sa grille,<em> Cristallisation n\u00b03<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-lead\">\u00c0 l\u2019occasion du vernissage, le 5 d\u00e9cembre 2022, l\u2019artiste a pu pr\u00e9ciser la singularit\u00e9 de sa pratique.<br>L\u2019utilisation du verre est issue \u00e0 la fois de l\u2019exercice de la peinture qu\u2019il a arr\u00eat\u00e9e tr\u00e8s t\u00f4t et de la fr\u00e9quentation de la litt\u00e9rature, notamment de Proust o\u00f9 le mat\u00e9riau est un objet de m\u00e9moire, mais aussi un v\u00e9hicule de l\u2019intime. \u00ab&nbsp;Cristallisation n\u00b03&nbsp;\u00bb est en effet si pr\u00e9sente par son \u00e9tranget\u00e9&nbsp; Tel est le paradoxe&nbsp;: son usage du verre permet \u00e0 Pascal Convert de revenir sur la mort et la nuit, qui sont au c\u0153ur de sa recherche&nbsp;: &nbsp;ici les trous dans l\u2019objet initial, la cire puis la masse vitrifi\u00e9e, mais aussi dans la photo-phare du<a href=\"https:\/\/www.claudinecolin.com\/fr\/2340-bamiyan-la-falaise-et-la-grotte-pascal-convert\/documents\/image\/capture-decran-2021-03-17-a-11.04.14.png\"> paysage des grottes de B\u00e2miy\u00e2n<\/a>, en Afghanistan.<br>Cristallisation est l\u2019\u0153uvre de deux artistes (voir trois en int\u00e9grant le ma\u00eetre verrier)&nbsp;: le sculpteur&nbsp; anonyme qui, il y a trois si\u00e8cles, a produit un Christ \u00e0 \u00e9chelle humaine, et Pascal Convert qui a choisi l\u2019\u0153uvre pour les qualit\u00e9s de sa pr\u00e9sence, et non sa raret\u00e9, ce qui lui aurait interdit de la transformer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-lead\">Par ses actes, l\u2019artiste se tient \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cart d\u2019une affirmation religieuse. Il se situe dans le champ de la mati\u00e8re, de sa re-cr\u00e9ation. Ce qui permet l\u2019interpr\u00e9tation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"une-entree-en-matiere-de-la-resurrection\"><strong>Une entr\u00e9e en mati\u00e8re de la&nbsp;R\u00e9surrection&nbsp;?<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-lead\">\u00c0 un critique qui parlait de transsubstantiation, l\u2019artiste a r\u00e9pondu qu\u2019il ne savait pas ce que voulait dire ce mot. Mais&nbsp;c\u2019est \u00e0 la R\u00e9surrection qu\u2019il est possible d\u2019associer le processus et le r\u00e9sultat de \u00ab Cristallisation n\u00b03&nbsp;\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-lead\">Cette \u0153uvre d\u00e9stabilisante, mutil\u00e9e et belle \u00e0 la fois, pose des questions profondes de langage et d\u2019interpr\u00e9tation.&nbsp;Il en va ainsi du glissement des termes sacr\u00e9\/sacrifice\/sacril\u00e8ge, puisqu\u2019il y a eu destruction de bois destin\u00e9 au sacr\u00e9. Mais aujourd\u2019hui le sens pr\u00e9cis de sacr\u00e9, \u00e9chappe au langage commun<a id=\"_ftnref1\" href=\"#_ftn1\">[1]<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-lead\">L\u2019enjeu du passage d\u2019un \u00e9tat \u00e0 un autre, d\u2019une ancienne \u0153uvre \u00e0 une nouvelle, d\u2019une cr\u00e9ation d\u2019artiste lointain \u00e0 son appropriation par un autre tr\u00e8s contemporain, le nom m\u00eame de celui-ci accentuant le donner-\u00e0-voir, le fr\u00e8re \u00ab convers \u00bb \u00e9tant dans les couvents le pr\u00e9pos\u00e9 aux choses mat\u00e9rielles, sans oublier la fortuite r\u00e9sonance ici de son pr\u00e9nom \u00ab&nbsp;Pascal&nbsp;\u00bb<a id=\"_ftnref2\" href=\"#_ftn2\">[2]<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-lead\">La sculpture en bois a disparu, elle est pass\u00e9e par le feu durant trois jours ou plus, et elle a donn\u00e9 naissance \u00e0 une autre, semblable dans la silhouette, mais de nature totalement diff\u00e9rente. L\u2019\u0153uvre restant dans le domaine des objets inertes, la R\u00e9surrection \u00e9tant un sujet de foi et d\u2019esp\u00e9rance. \u00c0 d\u00e9faut d\u2019un autre mot, les chr\u00e9tiens utilisent celui de \u00ab corps glorieux \u00bb. L\u2019artiste, lui, se limite \u00e0 nommer l\u2019acte&nbsp;: \u00ab&nbsp;Cristallisation&nbsp;\u00bb. L\u2019acte-processus est rationnel et observable de tous <em>versus<\/em> la promesse de \u00ab&nbsp;<em>la re-cr\u00e9ation gratuite d\u2019un corps spirituel et relationnel.
